Torquay Tour 2009

The tour is more or less fully organised now so for those that have no idea what's going on this is where you're going to find out.

Dates

The tour is on the first bank holiday weekend in May, which is Friday 1st to Monday 4th.

Accommodation

The majority of the squad will be staying at Haute Epine Guest House. The other guest house, just round the corner, is Garlieston Guest House. It's £25 per person per night so make sure you have enough money to cover the full £75 if you've only paid your deposit so far.

Haute Epine Guest House
36 Bampfylde Road
Torquay

Garlieston Guest House
5 Bridge Road
Torquay
TQ2 5BA

There are 14 beds at Haute Epine for the players and another 4 at Garlieston where Mr Chairman will be staying.

Getting There

Unlike last year, we won't be getting the train so there will be a few cars going down. Unfortunately there's no parking at either guest house so find a spot on the roads and park where you can. It's going to take approximately 3 hours to get down to Torquay with most people arriving around 1pm on Friday. If you haven't got a lift get in contact with somebody that is driving or speak to Chris or Ally. Remember to pay towards the petrol if you're getting a lift!

Currently the following people are driving:
Tom: Bully and Kooney
Goodyer: Deansy, Cannon and Steve
Don: Stef, Dale, Rob and Luke
Chris: Ally and Graham

Fixtures

Graham has once again organised a couple of games for us to play and it's against the same opposition as last year. The first fixture is on Saturday afternoon against Abbotskerswell and the second fixture is at noon against Newton United. The highlight of the Sunday game is a chance to see Graham get out his shooting boots followed by a trip to the superb Ye Olde Cider Bar.

Things To Remember

Football boots! We've got two matches organised for the weekend so don't forget them. Mr Chairman has requested that everyone wears a super hero costume on the Friday. I'd advise finding one or the penalty is likely to be severe.

Please also bring an extra £5 to cover the cost of the tour shirts that you will all get. This year's colour is a rather fetching navy.

You all shouldn't need to be told but don't forget that the guest house is somebody's business and house so as much as we all want you to enjoy yourselves, remember where you are. Your behaviour reflects on the football club as a whole and any problems are going to jeopardise future tours. We had some issues last year which almost led to this year's tour not going ahead after last minute accommodation cancellations so please don't put us in the same situation again. Feel free to do whatever you want when you're out and about but as soon as you return to the guest houses, you should make every effort to keep the noise to a minimum and act respectfully.

Oh, a spare liver may also be useful if you have one.
